“Speak With Me” Books

The “Speak With Me” series of children’s books targets basic sounds, language phrases, and speaking patterns for children 0-8 years old. The series teaches adults to follow a three step process:

1
TEACH the child how to properly form sounds,
2
MODEL sounds, words and simple phrases by slowly and clearly saying them out loud, and
3
PROMPT the child to practice these sounds, words and phrases as often as possible by pausing and encouraging her to repeat.

Each book focuses on a different set of sounds and language skills, and can be used in any order based on the needs of the child. Also includes fun tips on praising, effective reading, and more!

WHERE TO USE THESE BOOKS:

Parents
At home, to help your child become familiar with sounds essential for speaking and reading. Parents can also use this series as a companion to reinforce concepts taught by the SLPs for children needing help with specific sounds.

Teachers
In the classroom, to reinforce proper speaking habits and techniques one-on-one or in a group setting. Also used as an essential preparation tool for pre-readers to understand sound pronunciation and sound manipulation.

Speech-Language Pathologist (SLPs)
In therapy, to review sounds taught in therapy through children's literature, an enjoyable and fun approach! Also, sending home the “Review Worksheets” as homework to reinforce principles learned in session.

Most importantly, PRAISE your child and see their confidence grow!
